The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in Joelton Saturday night, with winds gusting up to 105 miles per hour.

Much of Joelton was left without power hours after the storm, making it difficult to survey damage until Sunday morning.

"I know the roof is completely damaged," said Pamela Spain. "There’s no top on the side deck, period. It’s gone. Our fence in the backyard is down on one side. The carport of course has a tree on top of it."

Spain said the storm forced her family to stay in a motel Saturday night, but they returned early Sunday morning to figure out the next steps.

"I'm not sure if we'll be able to stay here tonight," she said. "It’s a little sad, a little heartbreaking. You almost wish it didn’t happen, that you could rewind time and go back, but it is what it is and we’ll just move forward."

Most of the damage happened along Union Hill Road.

Emergency management officials said no one in Joelton was physically hurt during the storm.
