NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — An elderly couple has died after what police are investigating as a murder-suicide.
Metro Police say Wendell and Dorothy Collins, both 88, were found by a family member Wednesday in a bedroom of their McMurray Drive home.
Police say it appears the family car was left running in the garage. The family member who found the couple was there to take them to the doctor.
The family member reported smelling a strong odor of exhaust fumes.
Firefighters found the Collins' dead inside the home.
Two notes were found in the home indicating Wendell was responsible for the deaths.
A family member identified the notes were in Wendell's handwriting.
Metro Police say autopsies on the couple were scheduled for Thursday morning.
