An investigation has gotten underway after an emaciated, stray pony was found in Davidson County.

The Metro Animal Care and Control said crews responded to the call for a stray pony in Goodlettsville back on July 9.

A 20-year-old Flaxen Chestnut pony mare was found running at large on the caller’s proper near Brick Church Pike.

The pony was later taken to Safe Harbor Equine and Livestock Sanctuary for specialized care. Officials said the mare is extremely emaciated and has a long road of recovery ahead of her.

They’re now looking to identify the owners. Anyone with information or tips should call 615-862-7928.
