ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. (WTVF) — The search for a drowning victim has ended after he was found Wednesday evening.
The victim was identified as 19-year-old Galen Jones from Clarksville.
A recovery effort began Wednesday afternoon for Jones, who was just days shy of his 20th birthday.
His body was found just before 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Officials say he was swimming just past the roped-off swimming area at a beach, when he began to panic and began yelling for help. His family members tried to get to him, but they didn't make it in time.
Crews from Cheatham, Montgomery and Davidson Counties helped in the recovery effort.
Jones' body will be sent to the Medical Examiner's Office in Nashville for an autopsy.
