NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Metro Health Department is looking into why staff members of a child care facility have already received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Dr. Gill Wright, interim chief at Metro Health, said 60 staff members with Primrose Academy were vaccinated despite being in the Phase 1-b category.

It turns out the teachers received an email from the department telling them to schedule the appointments. Dr. Wright said the child care company was on a list of health care providers Metro received from the Tennesse Department of Health.

NewsChannel 5 asked state health officials about the list, and they responded saying, "We’re not aware of what list they are referencing."

Dr. Wright says after Primrose staff members got the first vaccine they needed to go ahead and give them the second one as well to keep from wasting the vaccine.

Wright said the department is working to make sure the error doesn't happen again by requiring a job title in the online registration portal.
