CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Department of Veterans Services is hosting an event to encourage veterans to pursue higher education.
It will be held at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center in Clarksville, Tennessee, on July 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Representatives from campuses from across the state will offer information about resources and services available to assist potential student veterans, service members and dependents with accessing educational benefits during their pursuit of a college degree.
The event is part of Gov. Bill Haslam's "Drive to 55" initiative, which aims to increase the percentage of Tennesseans with a degree or certificate beyond high school from the current 32 percent to 55 percent by 2025 in order to help improve overall job qualifications and attract employers to the state.
