State officials held a special ceremony at the capitol honoring the men killed during the terror attack at a Chattanooga reserve center as well as others killed in the line of duty.
The sailor and four Marines killed during the terror attack on a Chattanooga reserve center last year were among those memorialized during the service.
They were among the many service men and women honored who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
Governor Bill Haslam also declared Gold Star Families Day as a way to honor military families for the sacrifices they've also made.
Each family was also presented with the Tennessee Fallen Heroes medal.
