NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The largest family safety center in the country is set to open in a little more than a month in Nashville.

It means even more services offered to survivors of domestic violence and abuse, but the center was also constructed with the advocates in mind - the people hearing stories of heartache firsthand.

The 75,000 square foot building located at 610 Murfreesboro Pike is a one stop shop for those looking for resources when dealing with domestic violence, sexual abuse, child abuse and trafficking.

Hundreds of advocates will be working there - all exposed to what's called "vicarious trauma."

Advocates know that just because they hang up the phone with a survivor doesn’t mean the situation disappears. Advocates themselves can often carry that trauma within themselves.

The building was created with just that in mind. Whether it be a a funny piece of art or the amount of natural light the advocates were at creators' top of mind.

Even the placement of this play area for children was done with the idea of sparking joy. It's in the center of the building so advocates can see children playing… and hear their laughter echo throughout.

The building is set to officially open March 1.
