Fatal Crash Shut Down Interstate 65 North In Marshall County

LEWISBURG, Tenn. – A fatal crash closed part of Interstate 65 North in Marshall County.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 3:51 p.m. Friday at mile marker 27 near Cornersville.

According to reports, an SUV driven by Thomas D. Stisher, of Florida, was traveling north when it left the roadway, ran along the guardrail, and flipped multiple times before coming to rest upside down.

Stisher was killed in the crash. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as James Treheane, also of Florida, was injured. 

Drugs and alcohol were not considered factors in the wreck, and authorities said both Stisher and Treheane were wearing their seat belts.

Crews said the roadway was closed for more than an hour to northbound traffic while officials investigated the scene. Southbound lanes were not affected.

The roadway was reopened around 5:46 p.m. Friday.
