LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. (WTVF) — The father accused of badly beating his baby daughter could be indicted for aggravated child abuse instead of attempted homicide.

Baby Addilyn was rushed to Nashville from Lawrenceburg after she suffered severe trauma back on January 26. She was treated for broken bones and bleeding on the brain.

The district attorney is seeking an attempted criminal homicide charge against her father, 30-year-old Michael Fisher, but that might not stand up under the law.

The grand jury will now work on indictments and it's possible Fisher will ultimately be charged with aggravated child abuse instead of attempted homicide.

However, it's worth noting the penalties on the two charges are similar.

Her mother, 27-year-old Brooklyn Tidwell, was charged with aggravated child neglect.

Baby Addilyn has since been discharged from the hospital. However, she still has a long road ahead.
