Chucky Cravens has resigned as Fentress County sheriff amid a federal investigation.
In a Facebook post Monday afternoon, Chief Deputy Gary Ledbetter confirmed that Cravens has resigned, effective April 28.
Details on the allegations were not available. However, Ledbetter confirmed the investigation was isolated to Cravens and not the sheriff’s office as a whole.
“Make no mistake; I want you, the public, to know that I do not condone wrongdoing or inappropriate behavior from any of our staff. That’s not what we are about. We took an oath to protect and serve our community and I believe that we are fortunate to have an honest, hardworking and dedicated crew at the Sheriff’s office that works hard every single day to maintain your trust.”
