Fifth person arrested in connection with 2019 Mt. Juliet murder

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested the fifth person indicted in a 2019 Mt. Juliet homicide.

A Wilson County Grand Jury indicted five people on June 9 on charges connected to the death of Alexander Stephens. His body was found in a wooded area off of Secretariat Drive in Mt. Juliet on June 10.

Mt. Juliet Police officials initially said they didn't believe foul play was suspected in the case. 15th District Attorney General Tommy Thompson requested the assistance of the TBI the next day.

They found that Stephens had been killed at a nearby location several days before his body was found, and connected five people to his death.

  • Bonnie Lynn Piece (DOB 03/19/1981) - charged with one count Accessory After the Fact. Arrested in Murfreesboro June 16, booked into Wilson County Jail. Released after posting $20,000 bond.
  • Jeffrey Scott St. John (DOB 05/04/1989) - charged with one count Accessory After the Fact. Arrested in Mt. Juliet June 17, booked into Wilson County Jail. Released after posting $20,000 bond.
  • Brandon Mark Williams (DOB 08/07/1997) - charged with one count Accessory After the Fact. Arrested in Ashland City September 17, booked into Wilson County Jail on $20,000 bond.
  • Jason Durand Toy (DOB 08/22/1982) - charged with one count Accessory After the Fact. Arrested in Lebanon December 1, booked into Wilson County Jail on $20,000 bond.

Three of the five were arrested at various times over the past six months. Another was was already in custody, being held at another facility on an unrelated charge. And the fifth, Jason Durand Toy, was arrested on Tuesday.

Toy ran from police, but was found hiding under a house in Lebanon.
