NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Nashville Fire Department's annual "Fill the Boot" fundraiser is underway.

Firefighters will be on the streets all week to ask for donations on behalf of the Muscular dystrophy Foundation.

Officials say even a small donation can make a big difference.

"Every dollar counts. Each contribution helps improves the quality of life, and brings us one step closer to a cure," said Chief William Swann. "Please be on the lookout for personnel with boots in hand across Nashville. We start September 11 through the 14th."

The funds will be used to find treatments and cures for Muscular dystrophy, ALS, and other related diseases.
