FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Finalists from across the country were in Franklin for Infiniti's Performance Engineering Academy, and as it turned out, competition in the automotive engineering field can be pretty intense.

The finalists were competing for the career opportunity of a lifetime: a one-year paid internship with Formula One racing.

The students had to pass a series of tough panel reviews and performed several tasks testing their engineering skills.

“Through those exercises we're looking to see who has got the technical capability, and who’s got the team working capability, and who’s got the leadership capability to be able to come and work with us,” said Jerry Hardcastle, of GM Infiniti Global Quality.

There were five internship slots available, and the winners were set to be announced in the next few weeks.
