Fire Breaks Out At Murfreesboro Duplex

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Emergency crews were called to a duplex in Rutherford County after a late night fire broke out inside the home.

The incident happened Sunday night at a house on Reid Avenue in Murfreesboro.

Heavy smoke and flames could be seen shooting from the back of the residence.

No one was home at the time of the fire. Fortunately no one was hurt.

"Once on scene, crews got the fire knocked down within a few minutes," said acting Shift Commander Tony Lehew.

Officials with the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department said the blaze appears to have started in a back bedroom.

The cause remains unknown. The fire marshal has been called out to investigate.
