MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A home in Murfreesboro was severely damaged after a fire broke out overnight.

The incident happened at the two-story home located on Birch Drive around midnight Friday.

When crews with the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department arrived on scene, the house was fully engulfed, with flames shooting through the roof. The home is likely a total loss.

"We set up the aerial on Ladder 9 and used the deck gun to get the fire knocked down," said Shift Commander Dale Maynard. "We were able to get it out pretty quickly."

Crews were still on scene hours later working to put out lingering hot spots.

The house next door also received heat damage to its aluminum siding.

No one was injured in the blaze, but its residents have been displaced. The American Red Cross has offered its support.

Officials with Murfreesboro Electric were called out to pull the meter. The Fire Marshals' Office was also called to conduct a routine investigation.
