A Nashville firefighter suffered minor injuries while fighting a house fire.

The fire broke out in the home on 609 Freedom Court Thursday evening.

The resident inside said it started in a downstairs apartment and spread quickly to the attic. The home was not a total loss but it will need extensive work.

Two men inside the home at the time were able to make it out safely along with three dogs.

A firefighter was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with minor burns.
