NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Some local business owners got a chance to chat it up with a VIP in the state of Tennessee.
The Nashville Entrepreneurs' Organization launched its “Learning From Legends” speaker series Wednesday at Nissan Stadium.
Wednesday's speaker was former Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen.
Bredesen started the HealthAmerica Corporation, which grew to more than 6,000 employees before he sold it in 1986.
“A lot of my life has been as an entrepreneur in business and I think of politics as kind of entrepreneurial, and when I got asked to come over here and just talk to this young entrepreneurs’ organization, I mean not so much about the sort of standard stories, but just personal,” Bredesen said. “Some of the things you have experienced, what you liked and haven't liked about it, I really wanted to do that.”
Among other things, Bredesen told the group during his time as a business executive he learned to be more hands-on and to not be afraid to deviate from the business plan.
