HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A former Hendersonville Police Lieutenant has died from complications of the new Coronavirus.
Police Dept. officials took to social media, saying Retired Lt. Jim Lawson was hospitalized last week with respiratory issues.
Lt. Lawson served the City of Hendersonville for more than 30 years.
The department expressed its sadness on social media Sunday, saying "We are heartbroken to announce that HPD Retired Lieutenant Jim Lawson passed away this morning. Please continue to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers."
The family of Lt. Lawson released the following statement:
"After fighting with all of his strength, our hero passed away this morning into the arms of Jesus. We thank everyone for the prayers during this time. He was a man of great courage, compassion, and love. It was his honor to serve the city of Hendersonville, the state of Tennessee, and the family of Hendersonville Church of Christ. He will be missed more than any words can say. We know with all our hearts he is hearing “well done, my good and faithful servant!”
