WAYNESBORO, Tenn. – A former county corrections officer in Wayne County has been accused of having sexual contact with an inmate.

Officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Christopher Glenn Springer has been charged with one count of Sexual Battery by an authority figure.

Springer was accused of calling a female inmate out of her cell and engaging in sexual contact with her in December 2014.

Agents began investigating Springer after the woman reported the incident to a superior at the jail.

The 26-year-old Loretto man was indicted by Wayne County Grand Jury on August 5.

Springer surrendered himself to a TBI Agent at the Wayne County Jail, Wednesday evening. He was booked and released after posting $25,000 bond.
