Former Metro Council member dies from COVID-19

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Former Metro Council member Tony Tenpenny has died from COVID-19, according to the vice mayor.

Vice Mayor Jim Shulman says Tenpenny died overnight, after being in the hospital for over a month.

Tenpenny represented the 16th district from 2011 to 2015.

A previous version of this story said Tenpenny had been in the hospital for about two weeks, per information from the vice mayor. He later updated News Channel 5 that Tenpenny had been hospitalized for over a month, as reflected in the current article.
