A former Metro councilman has been sentenced after trying to intimidate a woman who was beaten and raped into not testifying.

Loniel Greene will serve two years probation. He was acting on behalf of his cousin, Tavares Buchanan who was found guilty of rape and aggravated assault against the mother of his children.

Judge Mark Fishburn called the attack "abhorrent" and "brutal." Buchanan was already sentenced to ten years. He picked up another three years today on those coercion charges.

Greene's time on Metro council was as eventful as it was brief - he was shot during an altercation before eventually being run out of council just a few months into his term over the coercion charges.
