NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University has announced that former Metro Nashville Public Schools Director Dr. Jesse Register will join the school’s faculty.
University officials announced the hiring Tuesday in a release.
Register was previously the director for Metro Schools from 2009 until this year. The school board has yet to name his successor.
According to a release, the position of Distinguished Professor of Educational Leadership has been created for him. He'll be teaching graduate education courses and will also spearhead the development of the new Belmont Center for Improvement of Educational Systems.
The new center will be a think-tank, a training institute site and an incubator to discover ways to restructure schools at the district level using community-based approaches.
Register will officially join the faculty on October 1.
