A former Mt. Juliet Police sergeant has been indicted and arrested on theft charges.
Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said that 40-year-old Jason Ezell claimed overtime with the department he did not actually work.
They began the investigation into the theft complaint in April. Investigators learned the city of Mt. Juliet paid Ezell for the overtime between June 2014 and April 2015.
He was paid a total of $14,180 for the false overtime. The investigation also revealed Ezell was responsible for $1,600 of cash missing from the department designated for undercover operations.
Ezell has since been fired, and charged with two counts of Theft and one count of Official Misconduct.
The Wilson County Grand Jury returned the indictment Monday, but he was arrested Thursday evening then and booked into the Wilson County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
