Former Officer Charged With Shooting Of Phone Company Employee

A former Scottsville Police Officer was arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a phone company employee.

According to officials with the Scottsville Police Department, 75-year-old William D. Calvert shot 47-year-old Jeffery M. Powell while Powell was working at Calvert's home on a phone service call.

Powell, who works for North Central Telephone Co-op, was shot in the shoulder. He was taken to a helipad where he was flown to Skyline Medical Center.
