PLEASANT VIEW, Tenn. (WTVF) — A former captain of the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department has died from COVID-19.

The department shared online that James L. Parks died Friday night after battling the coronavirus.

Parks joined the VFD in 2004 and served for 15 years.

"His presence alone increased our capability and our character, as he was all in for the community and our membership," the department shared on Facebook. "Captain Parks was a trusted responder, trainer, mentor, and friend that always rose to the occasion, no matter what he was dealing with."
