CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Bill McAfee, a former Tennessee state representative and broadcaster, has died at the age of 84.
Funeral director Tom Tallent of Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel told The Associated Press on Sunday that McAfee died Saturday.
According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, McAfee attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga then joined the Georgia National Guard, where he served as a first lieutenant.
He later got a job at Lockheed Aircraft in Marietta, Georgia, before beginning his TV career at News Channel 9 and News Channel 12.
After broadcasting, McAfee was elected to the Tennessee General Assembly in 1976, where he served until retiring in 2000.
