CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Fort Campbell soldier was charged with murder in the death of a civilian woman.
According to Fort Campbell officials, 30-year-old Pfc. Jerome J. Forrest was charged with one count of murder under the Uniform Code of Military Justice on Friday, Jan. 11. He was arrested on January 3.
Details of the incident were not released, but officials said Forrest's charge is the result of an incident on December 17. A woman died at his Fort Campbell residence, which prompted an investigation.
The victim's name is withheld for privacy of the family. A date for a preliminary hearing has not yet been set. Forrest is currently in custody at the Montgomery County Jail, Clarksville. He is an infantryman assigned to Fort Campbell.
According to the Leaf Chronicle, Forrest is accused of beating his wife to death.
