FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — A high-tech fitness studio opened in Franklin on Tuesday.

"In 20 minutes, you can get a full head-to-toe workout, including cardio," said Wil Soles, owner of the new Exercise Coach.

Exercise Coach is inside the Heritage Medical Associates building on Mallory Lane.

The gym specializes in efficient, one-on-one workouts on a handful of computerized equipment called exerbotics.

"They are electronically controlled. The resistance comes from a computer...based on your capabilities and some benchmarks we set," Soles said.

There aren't any dumbbells or treadmills at the gym.

"We target folks that don't like the traditional health and wellness atmosphere you find in big box gyms," he said.

At 53-years-old, Soles said Exercise Coach is the type of gym he's personally always needed.

"Knowing that I can improve my health and my fitness in a couple sessions... this is exactly what I've been looking for all my life. I'm that person who has struggled with weight issues since I was a little boy," he said.

At their first visit to the gym, a client will get a pin and show the equipment what he or she can do. The system will record that and create subsequent workouts based on the person's strengths and weaknesses.

"The machine already knows what your capabilities are, so the machine doesn't give you more than you can handle. It takes all the guess work out of how much you should put on the machine and in a lot of ways the machine allows you to exercise at your own pace," Soles said.

Exercise Coach in Franklin is open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday by appointment. The gym is offering two free sessions to new customers.
