NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Franklin man has been arrested after he launched a firework at a Metro Nashville police (MNPD) helicopter early Saturday morning, according to MNPD.
The helicopter was flying 500 feet over a parking lot on Haywood Lane as part of a street racing initiative.
Just after midnight, John Schmid, 18, of Franklin shot the mortar-style firework at the helicopter.
Schmid was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault on police and felony reckless endangerment.
