FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — Five people involved in a theft ring with ties to Romania are in jail after their arrest by Franklin PD.

Police say they were called June 18 to a fitness center where someone was reportedly breaking into lockers and stealing credit cards.

The suspect avoided arrest and the stolen credit cards were used in more than $15,000 of purchases at several Cool Springs stores.

Surveillance video of the suspects and their vehicle led to a traffic stop on Moore's Lane.

Brentwood and Franklin PD recognized the two people inside as suspects in a similar crime committed in April.

Police say more than $100,000 in stolen property and merchandise from across the United States was found in the suspect vehicle.

Additional charges are expected against the suspects from agencies across the country.

Constantin Udila, 42, and Sabina Udila, 41, are both charged with theft, fraudulent use of a credit card and being a fugitive from justice. They are being held on a $2 million bond.

Iolena-Daniela Mortogan, 20, Lucia Dumitru, 42 and Giana Gheorghe, 33, are all being held on a $50,000 bond on theft charges.
