1 Killed In Crash Involving Motorcycle, Police Car

A fatal crash closed a portion of Franklin Road in Brentwood for a short time after a motorcyclist crashed into a police vehicle.

Officials said the crash happened after 4 p.m. Wednesday between a City of Brentwood patrol vehicle and a motorcycle.

According to authorities with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 45-year-old Anthony E. Peters was killed when his motorcycle crossed a double yellow line and hit the patrol vehicle head-on.

The roadway was closed between West Concord Road and Long Street while authorities investigated at the scene.

Brentwood Police Officer Seth Whitt, an 11-year veteran of the department, was transported to the hospital following the crash to be examined, but had no injuries.

Brentwood Police Chief Jeff Hughes released the following statement:

“On behalf of the Brentwood Police Department, we would like to offer our condolences to the family of the motorcycle driver killed on Franklin Road today."

The roadway reopened around 6 p.m.
