A fugitive has been captured after entering the parking lot at Wilson Central High School and then leading police on a chase in a stolen vehicle.
The ordeal began Wednesday morning when a baseball coach spotted what he believed was an armed suspect coming out of the woods near the baseball field.
The school resource officer responded and apprehended the suspect. Wilson County Schools said the suspect managed to create a diversion, steal a police cruiser and flee the scene.
From there, a chase ensued and eventually ended on Kimberly Drive and Stewarts Ferry Pike.
The suspect's name was not known.
Wilson Central, along with Gladeville Elementary, were both placed on a soft lockdown that has since been lifted.
Wilson County Schools officials said because it’s exam week, only about 200 students were at the school.
Parents were notified of the incident.
