COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – A felony fugitive wanted in Chicago was arrested in Putnam County.

Authorities said 26-year-old Timothy Maurice Ward was taken into custody Thursday. Ward was wanted on charges of criminal homicide in Illinois.

A lead through the U.S. Marshal’s Office helped them discover Ward was staying with family in Putnam County.

Surveillance was set up at the apartment where Ward was believed to be living.

Ward was then spotted entering the Dollar General store on West Broad Street with an unidentified female.

Authorities set up a perimeter around the store, and Ward was surrounded in the parking lot and taken into custody without incident after he left the store.

Ward was booked into the Putnam County Jail. He was being held without bond awaiting extradition.
