WOODSTOCK, Ga. (AP) -- The funeral was held for a metro Atlanta Marine who was slain in attacks on military facilities in Chattanooga.

Mourners gathered at 2 p.m. Sunday for the funeral of 21-year-old Lance Cpl. Squire Wells at the First Baptist Church of Woodstock. Wells, known as "Skip," was buried at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. Both events were open to the public.

Wells was one of four military personnel killed July 16 when a man opened fire at two military facilities before being killed by police.

Wells was remembered during a memorial Tuesday at Sprayberry High School in Marietta as a hardworking and enthusiastic Marine who had been eager to enlist in the military.

Wells attended Sprayberry High School and Georgia Southern University before enlisting.
