NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A teacher at Gallatin High School has been charged with sexual exploitation of a minor amid allegations involving a 14-year-old girl.

According to an affidavit from Sumner County court, 35-year-old Douglas Richmond was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and solicitation of a minor.

Officers were called to the school after a juvenile told the assistant principal about an alleged relationship between a 14-year-old student and a teacher.

The alleged victim told police that she had been texting Richmond for four months and during that time, had sent and received numerous nude photos, authorities said. He allegedly asked her not to tell anyone and repeatedly asked her to have sex with him in his classroom closet.

She said Richmond told her to download the “KIK" app to communicate.

He's also accused of frequently asking for sexual videos and explicit photos. Gallatin Police said the victim had several messages on her cell phone discussing the sexual relationship and acknowledged that he could get serious "jail time."

When interviewed, police said Richmond initially denied any relationship with the student, but then admitted to exchanging nude photos and “sexting.”

He allegedly denied any physical relationship between the two. Police said nude photos were also recovered from his “KIK” account.
