The man accused of kidnapping, 9-year-old Carlie Trent from her school, has been sentenced to 25 years in state prison.
According to WVLT Simpson appeared in court Monday afternoon, where he entered a guilty plea to his charges of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault.
The kidnapping prompted a week-long AMBER ALERT after he took her from school under false pretenses.
Simpson is Carlie's uncle by marriage. He picked her up on May 4,2016 and she was found in a remote, wooded area of East Tennessee on May 12.
Simpson claimed the little girl was being treated unfairly by her father.
