Crews have fixed a gas leak after a line rupture forced the evacuation of students at a Mt. Juliet elementary school.

According to Mt. Juliet Police, students were evacuated from building B at Rutland Elementary School, Tuesday morning and taken to building A.

All students and faculty were safe and accounted for.

The incident also briefly closed South Rutland Road between Belinda Parkway and Sunnymeade Drive.

Lt. Tyler Chandler with Mt. Juliet Police said the line was ruptured by construction workers who are building a nearby church.

Crews with Piedmont Natural Gas were able to stop the leak. Students returned to class once no gas was detected at the school.
