Just days before their daughter's wedding, a Goodlettsville family loses everything, including one of their dogs, in a house fire.

The fire broke out at the home on Appletree Road around 5 p.m. Sunday. The homeowner was in Portland trying on her dress for her daughter’s wedding when she got the news.

“There were flames pouring out of the top of the roof,” said Dalisay Hospedales, who has lived in the home for more than 10 years.  “My whole family was just standing here and just staring. My sister couldn't talk. It was all gone.”

Hospedales said four people, including her son, were inside at the time and their two dogs.  Six people live in the home.

“The roof had fallen in front of him, and he was able to pull out before the whole thing caved in,” said Hospedales. “He got everyone out.”

One dog was able to be saved and is currently at the veterinarian. The other dog didn’t make it.

The family spent most of Monday salvaging what they could from the home.  All their possessions were in piles on the front lawn of the house.

“It’s funny, some things are just perfect, and others are just gone, “said Hospedales. “We have to start over.”

The wedding will still go on as planned on Sunday. The family’s insurance company is working on finding them a place to stay where they can all be together.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help them get their lives back on track.
