Governor Bill Haslam has not ruled out running for Bob Corker’s U.S. Senate seat.
Reports from the governor’s office said he was considering the run.
In a statement on Thursday, an official for the governor said:
“The governor believes it is really important who serves in the U.S. Senate and it merits spending some time thinking about it and praying about it and it is worthy of consideration.”
U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-Tennessee) released a statement on Tuesday regarding his decision not to run for re-election.
Republicans hold a 52-48 edge in the Senate.
