NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Governor Bill Lee and other lawmakers met with veteran entrepreneurs to discuss their impact on the local economy.

The Nashville chapter of Bunker Labs and WeWork Veterans in Residence hosted the round-table event. Bunker Labs is a nonprofit helping veteran entrepreneurs start and build successful businesses.

Advocates hope to see a Veteran-Owned Business Day in the state of Tennessee.

The governor says the conversation was a step in the right direction.

"[I'm] really glad to be here, and to talk about what we can do for veterans, and how we can connect veterans to opportunity for creating their businesses. It was a really productive conversation," said Gov. Lee.

Organizers not only want to support veteran-owned businesses, they also want to create a stronger connection between veteran entrepreneurs and state government.
