A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new walk-in health clinic at Maplewood High School in East Nashville.
Mayor Megan Barry and other city leaders attended Wednesday's event.
The clinic, which will be open to the public, will be fully staffed by Saint Thomas Health physicians, nurse practitioners, and medical assistants.
The new facility is expected to also be very beneficial to students.
"To support them through this and give them the education to be able to enter into healthcare is just phenomenal. We're excited about it we think it's just the beginning of the work we could do. It's definitely the beginning of their careers. This is an entry point that they can start into their career path, and whoever knows what it could end up to be," said Karen Springer.
The clinic is expected to open in the spring.
