NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has ordered flags over the State Capitol and all State office buildings to be flown at half-staff in honor of those killed in a shooting in Chattanooga.
In a release, Haslam’s Press Secretary David Smith said the flags would be lowered immediately. They will remain at half-staff until sunset Friday, July 24.
This will include four consecutive business days next week, to honor the life of each victim.
The gunman, identified by officials as 24-year-old Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, opened fire at two military facilities Thursday morning.
Four Marines -- Thomas Sullivan, of Massachusetts, Skip Wells, of Georgia, and David Wyatt, of Chattanooga -- were killed. Two days later, Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Randall Smith, a reservist serving on active duty in Chattanooga, died as a result of his injuries.
The identity of the remaining victim has yet to be released. Three other victims were wounded.
