Briley Parkway has reopened after ethanol spilled onto the roadway when a tanker blew a tire.
The incident happened early Tuesday morning on southbound Briley Parkway at Ashland City Highway. Both directions were shut down for hours and finally reopened around 12:30 p.m.
Sky 5 flew over the roadway and showed multiple agencies on the scene.
Ethanol began leaking from the truck after it blew a tire.
Ethanol, an alcohol fuel made primarily from corn, is less toxic than gasoline and is not carcinogenic. However, this ethanol was industrial with toxic additives, very flammable, and in some circumstances could explode.
