NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Hazardous materials crews were called out to a transportation and logistics facility after a container holding hydrochloric acid spilled onto the roadway.

Officials from the Nashville Fire Department were called to the Averitt Express Facility on the southeast corner of the interchange with Interstate 24 and Briley Parkway around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

A 55-gallon drum of acid somehow tipped over, spilling about 5 gallons onto the pavement.

No one was hurt, and crews were able contain the spill.

HAZMAT teams were expected to be back out at the facility to finish any lingering issues.

There were no evacuations.
