HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — An investigation has gotten underway after a Hendersonville police officer shot a domestic violence suspect overnight. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is investigating the incident.

The TBI says the incident happened around 2 a.m. Thursday at a home on North Malayan Drive. Two officers from the Hendersonville Police Department had responded there earlier to a report of a domestic disturbance between a husband and wife.

Shortly after officers arrived, they found the husband, James David Hochstetler, 41, reportedly intoxicated. He became combative with the officers.

At some point, at least one officer shot Hochstetler, who was then taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center. The TBI says his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police say he's listed in stable condition.

It’s unclear what led up to the confrontation. Police say charges related to the domestic incident that occurred before they arrived are pending.

The incident remains under investigation.
