NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Another sloppy wet setup is headed for the mid-state. Three waves of different flavors of a rain/snow mix will slide through Friday. One in the morning, another in the afternoon, and a final round late Friday night.
The morning round will be the most impressive as far as total precipitation and snow chances. A mix of rain and snow will slide through central parts of the mid-state between 5am-9am, higher elevations (areas above 1500') will likely be all snow and have the potential for a dusting up to 1.5" of snow. There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 4am to noon to account for the snow potential across our Eastern tier.
During the afternoon hours temperatures will warm into the upper 40s so any snow still around will transition to all rain by midday.
Don't think we're done just yet though. As temperatures drop back down below freezing late Friday night we'll likely see our final transition to a rain snow/flurry mix across the area.
Talk about weather whip-lash!
