CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Southbound lanes of Highway 48 have reopened in Montgomery County after a tractor trailer overturned.

The incident happened shortly before 4:30 a.m. Monday, at Highway 48 and Highway 149, just south of Clarksville.

Officials with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said a tractor trailer carrying 26,000 pounds of cement somehow overturned in the roadway. The crash also caused fuel to leak onto the highway.

The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and was treated for minor injuries.

Southbound Highway 48 was shut down due to the wreck. Traffic was diverted on the northbound side of the road.

Officials with the Tennessee Department of Transportation worked to detour traffic in the area.

The scene was cleared around 11 a.m.
