NASHVILLE, Tenn (WTVF) — A jewelry store in Hillsboro Village has been hit twice by thieves so far this year. The owners of Peacock Jewelers say the most recent incident happened Saturday around 4 p.m.

Co-owner, Paul Wilson says it was busier than usual when a man walked in posing as a customer.

Wilson says he walked the man toward the items he was interested in and another associate helped him look at jewelry. Employees say within minutes he broke the customer facade.

"He took some items, ran through the store, picked up some other items and ran out the door," said Wilson.

Customers chased after the suspect who they say got away in a blue car.

"It’s hard, it’s sad, it’s maddening, a lot of emotions going on all at the same time," said Wilson. "To have this happening, it’s terrible and something needs to be done.

It was back in May when police say a suspect threw a concrete block through the glass window and stole more than 200 rings. Some of the items were returned by strangers who found the stolen pieces.

"Being the second time this happened this year in the last couple of months; it’s mind-boggling on how frightening it can be," said co-owner, Joey Nunley.

Surveillance video did capture the moments from both thefts, now Peacock Jewelers will be stepping up its security.

"We’re getting ready to install more security systems and private bodyguards," said Nunley.

The owners want the thieves from both thefts off the streets.
