A home was significantly damaged after allegedly being struck by lightning, and authorities confirmed a mother, child, and two pets were able to escape unharmed.
Officials in Franklin said they responded to the fire on Windcrest Court just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday and found smoke coming from the attic.
Crews got the fire under control, and no injuries were reported.
Authorities estimated the damage to the two-story home to be worth $60,000.
Officials had also responded to a fire call at another home in the Fieldstone Farms area before the fire on Windcrest Court, but no fire was found. That home sustained electrical damage, also possibly from the storm.
While crews were at that scene, the owner of the Windcrest Court home flagged them down and told them her house was on fire.
The investigation into the cause of the fire on Windcrest Court remained ongoing; however, Franklin Fire Marshal Andy King said it did appear to be caused by a lightning strike.
